SMEG 4x4 Slice Toaster

I really enjoyed working with SMEG

Love it

I purchased the black one and it works seamlessly. It looks beautiful and feels very sturdy too. I was contemplating the silver one but per some research black one is easier to keep clean.

I really wanted this toaster. But it's a disappointment in terms of function. It's really hard to find reviews on this toaster that give specifics, so I hope you'll find this helpful: 1) I buy Killer Dave's sourdough bread, which are big thick slices. The bread doesn't fit one way, and the other way a inch sticks up so you need to toast it twice, 2) the bread is more toasted on one side vs. the other, 3) the knobs for how dark you like your toast are jiggly/cheap feeling, and 4) the knob numbers are black and painted on the knobs, which will wear off and are almost impossible to read. The look of the toaster is what got me to buy it, but being such a big thing you'd think your bread should fit. The numbers should light up and you'd think the knobs would be sturdy like those on an old car radio (that is the look they are going for isn't it?). Thumbs down unfortunately. Why pay for the look and not the function?

Best toaster EVER. Super solid construction with heftier steel rather than plastic used predominantly (rare even for upper-tier brand toasters anymore, sadly). Smart design with very easy straightforward operation. Love the sensibly-designed extra-extra wide toaster slots. Everything makes sense, it works splendidly … and is great looking. The array of colors this is available in is also a boon. I chose the creamy beige color and give the color a major thumb’s up. It is wonderful, too, that Smeg has so many other kitchen “counter top” appliances available in the same wide array of colors. TOP-NOTCH. Thanks Smeg!

Love the retro look yet mainting the sleek design and functionality. Toasting is easy to get exactly your indivdual toasted level.
