Disappointing
Very good budget knife; needs no sharpening.
Horrible. In my opinion, the serration makes this knife more dangerous than a traditional chef's knife. I found the knife to be off-balanced, and the serration seemed to cause the knife to skew to the right. I thought it was dangerous, and I'm very experienced using 8" chef knives. I usually love J.A. Henckel knives, and I was so confident I would like this knife I bought two at one time. Both are going back.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not a chef so this is perfect for occasional use. Holding up well and a decent match for my fancier regular knife set from zwilling
This is a good bread knife. The solid construction makes a sharp blade that cuts easily. The handle is comfortable to hold. I cuts right through crusty bread and is great for tomatoes and citrus as well.
I went for a Henckels knife because of the quality associated with the name. The handle is very comfortable and I love the silver accent on the end. The micro serrations along the blade edge mean great cutting and it wont go dull.
This knife nevers needs sharpening because it has small micro serrations at the edge. Cutting with Silvercap is a little different than other knives, I use more of a back and forth motion, but once you get used to it, cutting becomes much easier. Glade not to have to worry about whether my knife will be dull or sharp!
Use this knife for almost everything. Great for bread but also glides through tomatoes, pineapples, melons, fruits, and even rump roast. Love that it is lightweight and limits hand fatique.
Chef's knives are considered the mainstay of every chef's knife bag. They are designed for chopping, slicing, mincing, dicing, 'julienne-ing' and the list goes on. If you get one knife get a chef's knife (or a santoku). And if the Silvercap line is appealing to you, you cannot go wrong. These are good quality knives at an affordable price. Silvercap knives are micro-serrated so they will stay sharp for years to come. No extra maintenance necessary. These knives are stamped from high quality German steel; a stainless steel that won’t stain, and doesn’t require special care. Just use, wash, dry and repeat. The full tang construction, meaning that there is a single piece of steel from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle, is stable and durable.
