Downeast Clog Wool

Great house shoe, especially for those with sore knees, lower back and feet that suffer neuroma and bunions. The sole offers great shock absorption, the wool felt is soft, not irritating, and it holds up beautifully with daily use. It runs VERY large. I take a solid 8 Wide, even Extra Wide in some shoes, but a size 7 in this shoe fit perfectly and allowed for an orthotic if worn without socks. Loved it so much, bought a second pair.

These clogs are so comfortable. They run large so I had to trade them in for one size smaller.

Loosey Goosey, sloppy fit with a slip and slide sole! This looks like it's a redesign of a very cute and functional suede clog. Unfortunately, this redesign is a complete flop IMHO! The wool felt is too soft and mushrooms out on the foot, providing no support and has no way to stay on the foot, combined with a dangerously slippery sole! It's a disaster and a retrofit so poorly done that I'm surprised this clog made it into production. The leather band that goes around the bottom of the wool foot adds a trim detail, but no functional support! The wool on the top of the instep is loose and gaps. Instead of slip sliding away in all directions, these wool clogs were sent back!

I have a similar pair from last year. I love them, so ordered these on sale. The soles look identical, but they are made out of different material. The new material is very slippery compared to last year. I returned them. The fit was fine.

First thing to say about these clogs is that they are very warm! I have always liked clogs and am pleased they seem to be having a little renewal. I wanted a comfortable, around the house shoe that was warm for the winter, so the wool really attracted me. I am normally a 6 1/2 Medium, but I ordered a 6 Medium (perhaps because of some reviews about size?). I find the 6 surprisingly roomy, but I chose not to return it because I think I will be wearing these a lot this winter with some Fairisle wool socks I have. They have pretty good arch support, though not as much as I prefer. Still, I have been surprised that I can wear them for several hours and still feel comfortable in them. The shoe feels and looks a little clunky, but the warmth is what I wanted, and that is great.

One shoe was sewn together crooked and therefore didn't fit fit your foot correctly so had to be returned. The return cost me money, so will likely not be ordering from this company again.

While I liked the look of this shoe, I found them to be too wide for my feet and returned them.

House slippers are always useful in the north country. Several previous leather slippers have ripped, so I thought I would try something different.

I sent the first ones back because they were far too large. The next ones were still large but with socks they work wearing them inside the house. Otherwise they're quite nice.
