BeanFlex Utility Jacket

Very pleased with this utility jacket in Darkest Gray. I have an olive green L.L. Bean one from years ago, as well as a stone-colored one, and they are both among my very favorite spring and fall jackets. They are well made, soft, and wash well. I never dry them for more than about 15 minutes, then take them out and hang to air dry. The lower pockets on the older ones are better in my opinion (square with a snap button, and a smaller pocket right above it with a zipper), but I'm still happy that I have added this to my collection! Please consider offering this in solid black!

Wearing it now as I write this! I had a coat similar to this for a dozen or more years which finally needed to be retired. My heart skipped a beat when I saw this at LLB and I knew I had to have it (in charcoal). Very well made and flattering fit. Works for smart casual to casual and looks fabulous with a cotton scarf. I'm usually an LLB XS or S and the XS was great.

I typically wear medium tops and large bottoms, which can be problematic for sizing jackets that extend past my waist. This jacket in a medium, however, is generously sized and adjustable, creating a perfect fit that wasn't too snug at the hips. The fabric is substantial, and I could find no flaws. The zipper is a bit awkward since the pull is on the opposite side compared to every other jacket I've owned. Odd but not a deal breaker. Looks great.

Bought this at the Flagship store at the end of May. Was nice to be able to try on. Has the cords at the waist to adjust shape which helped with styling. Comfortable and looks very nice. Can't wait to wear this Fall.

So glad I took a chance on this jacket. I had intended on buying a size large, but it sold out while I was still debating the purchase. Luckily I had read a review of someone who was near my height and weight, at 5'4" and 159 lbs and ordered the medium, after reading it fit them perfectly. As luck would have it, it fit me perfectly as well. Loving that the shoulders are wide enough but still give a tailored appearance. Dare i say its somehow magically slimming and elongating. Its my favorite level of casual, put together looking with zero effort. Loving that it is longer and covers the backside over tighter jeans. Loving that the material has the slightest bit of stretch to make it comfier on. Loving that the material seems to be a perfect cross between heavier canvas and a light-weight spring jacket. Overall I was thrilled that it still gives that military vibe, while feeling polished. The gray is stunning, and feels like the more I launder it, it will eventually get that cool distressed look I adore. This was a home run for me and may be back for the green. We'll done LL Bean!

I love this jacket! I purchased it for my South African Safari trip. And it was perfect! Not only did I wear it on the game rides-I also wore it while I was traveling as well. It kept me warm during my flights, and it's the perfect balance between being lightweight, and providing enough warmth that's needed. I ordered an extra large and it is true to size. It gave me a little wiggle room, which was great, but I would recommend ordering true to size. Will definitely order from L.L. Bean again.

I bought this jacket in the dark grey a couple of years ago and it is still by far my favorite jacket. It's flattering and it goes with everything. Great for layering over a sweater. Definitely worth every penny!

I ordered an XL because sometimes L.L.Bean clothes run a little small or the sleeves are short on me, although I normally wear a L. That said, this jacket runs quite generously, and I probably could have ordered my usual size. It's a great lightweight jacket for spring and fall. It's versatile enough to dress up a little or keep casual, and I really like that it doesn't feel bulky. Overall, I'm very happy with it!
