Gamma Hoodie

I had been eyeing the Gamma LT Hoody for months, as I'd purchased the Gamma MX Hoody early last year. However, when I was ready to purchase it, there was no stock as I guess they were already working on a redesign. The revised version unfortunately seems to have changed the fit from a regular fit to a fitted fit. I ordered both a large and extra large size, as my other Arc'teryx jackets are size large, but they are all regular fit, and I wasn't sure how the fitted fit would impact the size. It turns out the large was too tight around the hips and the stomach area, making it difficult to zip up and bulging around the stomach but loose around the bust as I am pear shaped. When I tried the extra large, although it zipped up easily enough, it was all around too large everywhere. I wish they realized that "fitted" fit doesn't work for everyone, especially those of us who don't fit the ideal body shape. I guess I'll be returning both.

Ordered this jacket in Alpenglow and loved it, beautiful colour, great fit, hood. Only reason I decided to return it is I think It still will be too warm for the purpose I wanted to use it. It wasn't an easy decision as i really liked it. If it had pit zips I would definitely keep it. Only week later I came across Gamma lightweight in the shop and fell in love with it. It seems like perfect jacket for all my outdoor adventures but why there are only such a dull colours? Please make it in some rich purple colour, alpenglow or electra. I was waiting 5 years for Alpha SV to come in some decent colour and got it finally this year in soulsonic. Hopefully Gamma LT will come in some bright colour sooner than that.

The canvas color looks very different from the display pictures.. a bit disappointed at the color. other than that, good shape, good fitting and insulation.

Great climbing and ski layer: The gamma hoody is a great softshell that you can wear on climbs and backcountry skiing. I also wear it as a jacket to work! It's comfortable and stretchy.

I LOVE THIS JACKET: I love this for well.. For everything. running, climbing, cycling! Its a light layer yet has saved my butt when the wind comes. or if its really hot- ill just have this wind layer on with a sports braw. its the best thing ever people

Downgrade from old design in every way: Writing this review so hopefully the Arcteryx team can see the consumer consensus. The Gamma SL has gotten substantially worse and is built with cheaper materials, while the price has increased. The fit is now too tight in the shoulders (I'm a swimmer/triathlete) to fit. The material is now thinner and less stuffy than my 2019/20 version. It has cheaper cuffs. The hood is less structured. And the DWR is less effective because of the thinner material. Please bring back the old design! There is nothing on the market now as good as the old model was.

I've been on the hunt for a tougher midlayer for climbing, and I've finally found it in this jacket. It provides enough insulation for a light layer underneath and offers excellent protection against sharp rock, such as the terrain at Joshua Tree. I've really put it to the test on my recent trips and am impressed with its durability. The only downside for me is the fitit runs quite long and a bit baggy in the shoulders. I've found that the non-hoody version is more cropped and fitted, which I prefer for climbing and mobility.
