The picture by no means depicts the beauty of this dress. The ballet style top is slightly stretchy but hugs in a ballerina kind of way. Accented by a black and gold belt, the skirt is buttery soft and drapes like a lovely complement to the top. It is ELEGANT. I paired it with gold and black tipped kitten heels and the outfit looks like a million bucks. My only comment is that it designed to be snug in the top so I am not sure how bigger chested women would fare - and may want to size up? For me, size 8 was perfect in length and fit. I am 5'2" and 135 lbs. I usually wear an 8 in most Donna Karan outfits. Or a small. But honestly, I do have some 10s that fit fine too. As usual, the Donna Karan zippers are bit quirky but they do zip once you get them going. I have found this to be true in all the dresses from Donna I have purchased. But this dress is designed to be that way. So it works for me. But I also envision wearing it out to dinner with flats.
