The only thing that I wish could change would be having a length 30 as the 29 is ever so slightly short but the 31 was far too long

But if you have wide thighs and a smaller waist, don't size by your usual waist and lenght sizes for other jeans - try them on first! I bought them in my usual size and they're VERY tight at the pelvic area, and because of that when walking they rise up so they become shorter than should be - just try them on for a bit before committing to a size and length. In the right size they would be the perfect flattering jeans! Wish the description would give you this info..

A comfortable, lovely cut with a nice drape; the side buttons adjust the waist without compromising the fit at the hips—I love them!
