Although the style and color was nice for a Fall wedding, and “ok “for the event we were attending, I feel I was just settling . It was an acceptable purchase but not enjoyable. There simply was not a great selection of quality dresses and I spent hours digging through disorganized racks of substandard quality and unfashionable dresses to unearth only one option.I have seen a decline in the overall selection and quality of Macys clothing over many years. The fabrics are not as substantial and the overall design, quality ,and construction have slipped.The clothing looked cheap and unappealing. There are never enough happy and helpful sales representatives available for assistance of any kind, and all Macys stores seem understaffed , empty and desolate. I was actually shocked we even found a dress, and eventually found an associate to ring up the sale. Macy’s standards both in merchandise and sales associates and adequate staffing , have unfortunately slipped and it’s a shame to have lost the magic of the shopping experience and the stellar reputation it once had. Sadly this is not an isolated problem for on-location retailers in general. These problems plague most department stores in general as more and more shoppers are opting to buy online. The joy of shopping in person is rare and largely unsatisfying … a sign of the times where personal service has deteriorated becoming none existent in our culture. So sad.
