Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron 14.3" Oval Bread Oven

While a little smaller than I imagined, it’s perfect for my sourdough. Excellent crust and easy to put the loaf into the preheated pan. I got orange. Does not disappoint.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first time baking sourdough with a Dutch oven. I have been using a loaf pan. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I am very happy I went with the oval shape and with this brand.

I bought this for my daughter and we had a wonderful time making her first sourdough together. The traditional sourdough recipe (500g bread flour, 100g starter, 350-375g water, 10g salt) works great for this bread oven. It is beautiful I wish it was available to purchase when I bought my first bread oven. It is perfect in every way! I wish my first loaf turned out as perfect as my daughter’s first loaf turned out!

This oval bread oven is a game changer for baking. It’s so much easier than using a Dutch oven and the loaves turn out beautifully every time. I love how the bread bakes in this oven.

I am a new sourdough baker, really only 4 weeks or so into it. I ordered the bread ovens as I have an extensive collection of Le Creuset and they have never failed me. This oval bread oven is a game changer. I like the oval loaf more than the round mostly due to my slicer. The loaf fits, the round loaves do not. The loaves turn out perfectly, every time. I no longer have to preheat anything but the oven. I am impressed to say the least.

excellent for making sourdough, I've used the round one and so glad they came out with the oval version too, I used both of them side to side in the oven to make einkorn sourdough regular and whole wheat and comes out perfect every time, perfect crust yet soft inside

LeCreuset never disappoints, I love this oval bread oven, I have a round one and when this shape became available, I did not hesitate. I have used other brand enameled cast iron or ceramic pots to bake bread, none come close to the LeCreuset in quality and consistency of the finished loaf. Putting the loaf on a shallower portion of the unit as opposed to into a deep pot is easier and when removing the top for the final portion of the bake more of the loaf is exposed so there is a more consistent crust.

After a couple of tries with unexpected rises and odd-shaped results, the oven produced a beautiful loaf of bread with great spring and crumb. The 4-cup recipe works best for us and we use unsalted butter instead of oil. Every baker should have one of these ovens.
