It is SLIDE in, but NOT hand free.
This is for kid, every time my kid slide her foot in, the cushion behind the heel will squeeze down with the heel. They should improve that cushion. This made the shoe no longer hand free slide in.

My eight year-old great granddaughter loved the purple one.
They were not for me, but for my great granddaughter. She loves them and she loves lavender and purple colors.
