My BDC650BSS produces very weak, nearly tasteless coffee from the start. I compared it with another coffee maker using identical pre-ground coffee—28 g for 400 mL of water. The other machine produced a flavourful cup; the Breville tasted like coffee-flavoured water. I measured the brewing water temperature at 95°C and confirmed the output quantity was correct. I also tried both paper filters and the supplied metal filter, with the same disappointing result. Since I used pre-ground coffee, the built-in grinder was not involved. Just looking for the right taste. added 50% more ground with little change in the taste. I also found several Reddit posts describing similar complaints about weak coffee or inconsistent brewing. For a machine at this price, I expected much better brewing performance. I got this as a gift a few years ago, finally decided to use it. I own other breville products and like them, but I would definitly not recommend this specific model.

The maker is not impressive in anyway; the grinder is inconsistent, the coffee separates quickly after brewing, and cleaning is laborious IF the components come apart at all. Where it all really "shines" is when you send it in for repair, Breville takes their time, ships it to the wrong address, makes you call to find the problem, gaslights you for weeks, then ships you a new one against your wishes. I will be selling cheap on Facebook, in case you want the same thing for a discount, and I will be happy to be rid of it and the company.
It had everything I was looking for to brew a pot or a single cup of coffee. It was nice to see, and the coffee comes out great every time; there is nothing like grinding beans and then drinking the coffee.
The coffee comes out watery and light even though I use dark roast beans. The coffee isn’t as strong as In would like. Going back to a pour over
Bought 3 years ago. The grind size changes randomly and seems to get clogged every 2-3 cycles. Really disappointed with this machine
I bought this machine three years ago. I loved the features, and it worked great for a while until the chute started clogging. We cleaned everything as instructed but it continued to clog. We started using the pre grind mode, essentially taking away the all in one feature. Now even with the feature set to pre grind, the grinder will turn on to the point where I think an electrical fire might happen if I didn’t unplug. Very unfortunate for a company with typically such high standards for quality products.
Love, love, love all features.Nothing like smelling fresh brewed coffee. Grinder very well made. Easy to maintain, easy to descale/has notification, two step clog remedy ( if occurs). Stainless cafe keeps 2-12 coffee cup decent temperature. My last Breville lasted 8 years!
This is our second one since the first one was no longer cleaning efficiently after 5 years. We love the fresh brew flavor everyday!
I had my first Breville grind and brew for about three/four years before it started leaking water. Bought my second March 29, 2025 for my birthday. Well, I am now on week two of no morning coffee. This machine makes a great cup of coffee - rich, full bodied - flavor is just wonderful. I will admit to being a coffee snob and I really do believe that grinding right before brewing makes a huge difference. But honestly, my husband is now asking me why I keep getting the grind and brews. Two weeks ago it stopped working - just won't grind - won't brew without grinding. I get an error code. I cleaned it out every month, descaled regularly. I've been trying to get in touch with Breville and it is almost impossible. I work full time and try to get home to make the call - because I've seen on youtube that they may do a video call to troubleshoot - I am so frustrated. You spend 400 on a coffee maker and it last a little more than a year?
I was so excited to buy this brand of grind and brew. However, after following all directions including cleaning and descaling etc., it frequently clogs and does not release the amount of coffee requested,
