I bought this soundbar because when I bought my Sony TV, I thought that I should add a soundber to make the sound more theater like. The salesman intrpduced me to this soundbar and he even let me hear its sound. It was really good and its sound was really good. That's what made me decide to buy this soundbar.
Set up easy except redundant cable. Good sound calibration.
Sony have produced the best 55 inch TV on the market. I had a Sony years ago and went on to buy different manufacturers TV sets none of which could touch Sony for sound output. This new Sony TV is far beyond for sound clarity output than previous tv sets I have had. I feel Sony have gone overboard with their settings for this machine - there are a lot of them to toggle.
Bar8, Sub8 and Rear8 bought together during recent 50% cashback offer. Replaces a HT-ZF9 system with rears. Significant and worthwhile sonic and aesthetic improvement in each component. Only real quibble regards loss of ZF9's display/on screen menus. Otherwise very happy. Good value when on offer.

Had it a couple weeks now and as I have a Sony Bravia TV, they couple so well together…the bass levels could be heavier but this is a good piece of kit…At some point a subwoofer will be purchased. If you are planning to use the the other HDMI port on the Bar for a firestick etc, the HDMI cable supplied with it cannot handle uncompressed Prime or Apple TV streaming and an upgraded to a classified Ultra fast cable is required to get the best out of the bar…
Having to have internet service to use this is ridiculous! Nobody makes anything that works properly anymore, they always need to be updated. Same for your disc players, they never work properly and I’ve got a 30 year old dvd player that still works just fine. Just make something that works out of the box without all of this garbage! The colours in Dolby Vision are muted from what I’m used to and now the picture is flickering
The Soundbar is a perfect match with the Bravia 5 TV. Setting up and pairing with the subwoofer is easy wth the help of the Bravia app.
Superb...just adds to the whole cinema experience but in the comfort of your own home. Highly impressed.
Good quality but no visual display to show what input is being used is a backward step from my previous Sony soundbar.
