Columbia Men's PFG Backcast IV 6" Water Shorts

I’m an outdoor education teacher in Bentonville, Arkansas, so I spend a lot of time moving. One day I may be on a trail with students; another day we’re kayaking, fishing, climbing, or working through an outdoor skills lesson. The Men’s PFG Terminal Roamer Stretch Shorts have become a pair I reach for across all of those activities. What I appreciate most is how comfortable they are throughout a full day outside. They’re breathable when the weather heats up, and the fit gives me room to move without feeling baggy. The stretch makes a real difference when I’m stepping into a kayak, climbing, bending down to help a student, or walking a trail. I can focus on what we’re doing instead of adjusting my shorts every few minutes. They’ve also held up well to the demands of teaching outdoors. My gear gets used, and I need clothing that feels ready for more than a relaxed afternoon. These shorts have the comfort I want and the durability I count on for active days. Another reason I wear them so often is that they look good beyond class. After a field trip or a day outside, I’m comfortable wearing them to lunch, running errands, or meeting friends without feeling like I need to change. That kind of versatility matters when the outdoors is part of your everyday life. I’ve been a Columbia person for over 30 years, and shorts like these remind me why. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nylon fabric water shorts are not suitable for swimming pool water that uses Brine (NaCl) or Chlorine for water treatment. The Nylon fabric literally disintegrates after a number of exposures, i.e., Water Aerobic classes or lap swimming. Buy only Polyester fabric shorts for those activities. NOTE: Suit design is great, just not suitable for swimming pool activities.

Bought these shorts a couple of days ago. Very comfortable and great fit. Love them!

Columbia should go back to the original design. These use to be my favorite shorts along with many other customers but not anymore. Why fix something that isnt broke? Very disappointing because I have been wearing the backcast shorts for over 20 years and Im afraid they have lost another customer. There is no longer a side pocket, the front pockets are too deep and hang past the bottom of the shorts if you have anything in them.

Tough fabric excellent for chores and keeping others on hand for going out. Just all around perfect.
