Keep these for your easy trails…
These shoes are okay for light hiking. Having them in the moderate category is a mistake in my opinion.
They were fine on my local trails in Virginia. Took them out to Acadia National Park with me and boy was that a mistake. Way too much flexibility for the roots and rocks (boulders actually); sole did not grip
at all traversing those.
Glad I brought my trusty Moabs high cut with me. I felt secure in those.
These shoes are really comfortable and zero break in but they also means near zero stability.

OK, but wouldn’t buy again
OK, but not exactly what I expected. I t looked more like the Speed Fusion Stretch in the photos and these are definitely not them. Also the inserts slide around a bit, which is annoying

Only waterproof for short while.
I’ve had these shoes roughly 3 months. Top fabric is already tearing and they are not waterproof anymore. I work at a municipal water plant. Waterproof shoes are a must. My feet get wet easily. I’ll be switching back to keens.

Ideal for Urbanity
Ideal for city walks and urban trails. Sturdy enough for light hiking, but light enough for every day walking. Nice styling too.

Too thin for me
I bought this for use on vacation in Portugal, Spain and Rome. Every day was miles of walking on cobbly streets and very hilly. The shoes were very comfortable at first, with grippy soles and good looking, but too thin and flexy for my old flat feet. Even with my orthotic insoles I was sore every day and they were unusually hot. I switched to my Teva sandals for the next two weeks and was fine.
I should have gone with a Moab Vent.

Quality Counts
Great hiking/walking shoes. Shopped around for a below ankle shoe, the Speed Striker 2 was the best I found. Comfortable, durable w/great traction.
I own other hiking boots from quality brands and Merrell Footwear is in their league. Good product, give it a try!

Merrell Speed Strike 2
I bought my Merrell Speed Strike 2 shoes because I wanted a solid pair of lightweight, hiking shoes. I tested them on a recent trip to Hawaii where I did a hike through a rain forest. The shoes met all my expectations. Very comfortable, got me through all the rough trails, and even wading through some water crossings.
