I bought this shoe in desperation after my last pair of Ryka mid-tops wore out (Devotion XT mid). I am a studio fitness instructor and NEED good shoes, so I took a chance. I mean, these are just a low-top version of the same shoe, right? The sole and tread are the same, the design/style too, right? Should be ok, right? I purchased my first pair in June through a different retailer. By early August, any support these shoes had was shot and I was having foot pain like I have NEVER experienced. Aching, throbbing pain in my arches, sharp pain in my heels, and, weirdly, other shoes I have were not fitting me right anymore. The lack of lateral support in these shoes vs. the mid-top design was literally reshaping my feet in a not good way. Believe it or not, I have been surviving in a pair of Ryka Devotion mid-tops from two models ago that I found, brand-new, stuffed in the back of my closet. They, however, will not last forever. I used to get about 6 months of wear out of that model, (far better than these new ones) so I know their days are numbered. So here I am, stuck with no good options. I've bought another pair of these Devotion XT low-tops because there is literally nothing else out there and I need something for the interim while I explore options with other brands (so far, nothing is working for me). I have sent numerous emails to this company, pleading with Ryka to put a mid-top back in the lineup, to no avail. Next stop, Zumba's shoes. More expensive, but they make a couple of studio/dance shoes that are mid-tops and if they work, my feet are worth it.
I am underwhelmed with this shoe. I was looking forward to comfort at Zumba...and these are not it.
I’d like these in other colors. I wear them at the gym for strength & cardio interval classes. They have too much traction for Zumba, causing some torque in my ankle, knee, hip joints for fast steps & change of direction. They are lightweight & fit well, but not tough enough for long walks on outdoor gravel trails. Good support for slippery surfaces, so would recommend for worker standing & walking on concrete floor.
The fit was fine with these, but the shoes were too stiff. The soles of my feet were uncomfortable as soon as I stood up and after a class my entire foot was in pain.
Have been wearing Ryka sneakers for 39 years! They fit my flat, narrow feet better than an other brand. Wear these for cross training, Zumba & line dancing. Only wish that they would keep these in stock more consistently & keep waiting for a pure white version
The shoes themselves were as expected, but had to return them unfortunately because of a sizing problem. I always buy a size 7 M from Ryka and bought the same size with these shoes. Unfortunately, the toe box was quite tight for both shoes, so I had to return them. Please do quality control of shoe sizes. Returning things is such a bother.
This is the 3rd pair of this style -when it's available in my size (7 Wide) and On Sale - I puechase it - Great shoe, fit and comfort, I teach 5 Zumba classes a week, 3 Strength classes and Personal training so I need a shoe to cover all these bases and Ryka has never let me down -
I bought a size 11 because that’s all they have. I wear a size 10 or 10 1/2. They seem to be OK until I try them. I will never know I haven’t tried because my step class has been canceled for a month.
Great for dance workouts. Flexible and ready to go as soon as you put them on.
