It was a great surprise to see that iHerb offers Crisp Bread. Did you know that it has the most basic composition? Just rye flower and some salt. It's so crispy and delicious with cream cheese, blue cheese, cheddar cheese or smoked fish! This was the food that was used in cold, Slavic countries long ago, and taken on seafaring trips. This is a comfort food form my childhood - and by the way, it's pretty healthy!

We always had this with my Norwegian grandparents when I was growing up. Just found it again about a year ago and am so happy. You need a tin or container that seals well to keep it in once opened. Great as an open face sandwich base or just with butter. Lots of memories!!
You may find it a bit strange but I love this crunchy, fiberful bread. I think that getting a lot of fiber in your diet is very important and this fits the bill. I make tomato sandwiches with it or even use it instead of muesli in my morning yogurt with blueberries. It stays crisp for a long time which is important as this is a lot of bread.
Large package, tasty, crunchy. More like a cracker. Can spread different things on it. I gave 4 stars because edges are a bit overdone, and not desirable this way. Also, being a larger size, it tends to break easily, so it becomes aesthetically displeasing. Prefer this kind of bread in smaller sizes.
I'm a big fan of Finn Crisp Thins, so decided to try these as well. The taste is great and they are as versatile as the Thins when it comes to various food combos. However, the size of each crisp is huge, we are talking the size of a small pizza :) so you have to break them into smaller chunks and it gets messy. Plus storing the uneaten portion is also more difficult compared to the Thins which come in a box. So, like I said, great for variety but I def prefer Thins for the convenience of everyday use.
To clarify, I do think the Siljans taste great . I wanted the Finn Crisps but they are back ordered so thought this was by the same company and would be good. My problem is .....they are huge and I only will be eating them so I would prefer the Finn Crisp , at a more manageable size. I would love to see pics of how the Swedish folk work with them, storing them and dining with them. I am glad I tried them and as I said....they are very good to eat!
To my mind Siljans from Finland and Leksands from Sweden are the best knäckebröd varieties. There may be local varieties of knäcke in Sweden or Finland but I am not aware of them. Siljans is one of the best varieties of bread around.
nice crisp of "dry bread". for me - lacking some salt.
