The MAC hydrating face gloss & primer has a pretty thick, tacky consistency. I definitely prefer it as a face gloss rather than a primer because I didn’t get as much of a glow underneath my foundation. As someone with acne scars and uneven skin texture, I prefer my primers to have a blurring effect. Definitely enjoy it as a skin gloss and will continue to use it. This is a great primer , it gives a nice dewy look to your skin without looking greasy. It doesn have a smell but to me it’s fruity and nice not overpowering. I tried using it over my makeup to give a nice glow on top as well but it did take off my makeup whenever I applied it unfortunately. When first trying this primer I followed the pro tip on the package suggesting to use it as a primer then finish your makeup off by using the gloss on top. It was a little too shiny for me. When trying it again I used it as my primer with light makeup on top. I liked how it came out. Gave me a dewy finish. I like that it isn't greasy or overly shiny.
